GAP's mission is to protect the public interest and promote government and corporate accountability by advancing occupational free speech, defending whistleblowers and empowering citizen activists. We also advise public agencies and legislative bodies about management policies and practices that help government deal more effectively with substantive information and concerns, while protecting the jobs and identities of those who provide this critical information.
Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility
PEER works nation-wide with government scientists, land managers, environmental law enforcement agents, field specialists and other resource professionals committed to responsible management of America's public resources. Resource employees in government agencies have unique responsibilities as stewards of the environment. PEER supports those who are courageous and idealistic enough to seek a higher standard of environmental ethics and scientific integrity within their agency.

Trustees for Alaska is a public interest law firm whose mission is to provide legal counsel to sustain and protect Alaska's natural environment. We represent local and national environmental groups, Alaska Native villages and nonprofit organizations, community groups, hunters, fishers and others where the outcome of our advocacy could benefit Alaska's environment.
Alaska Conservation Alliance
(ACA) is a statewide coalition of 44 conservation groups & businesses representing over 35,000 individual members.
Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE)
ACE works to build coalitions, educate, and promote public participation and support citizen activism. Issues of concern include state land management, statewide transportation policies, forestry, land use planning, and wetlands protection in Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska. ACE also addresses hazardous waste, toxic materials, and waste reduction problems. The Center also hosts an environmental education program that includes Trailside Discovery Camp for youth and families.
Alaska Community Action on Toxics (ACAT)
ACAT is the continuation of the Community Toxics Project begun by Greenpeace Alaska in 1994. This investigative and advocacy project uses computer mapping techniques and assists communities throughout Alaska in addressing contamination problems left by the military, oil and gas, and mining industries. It also endeavors to prevent future toxic contamination such as that which could result from the "depleted" uranium bomb test by the Air Force near Fairbanks.
Cook Inlet Keeper
In order to protect the waters and strengthen the link between the environment and communities of Cook Inlet, Cook Inlet Keeper helps citizens recognize their rights to clean water by providing access to important environmental information from government files and computer databases, involving citizen volunteers in hands-on water and sediment testing, and working with environmental attorneys to empower people to defend their rights to a healthy environment.
Greenpeace in Alaska
Greenpeace works to halt new oil and gas exploration to protect fragile Arctic habitats and species, and prevent further degradation of the Arctic environment from climate change. The work in Alaska is part of a larger effort to bring attention to the impacts of global warming on the world's environment. Additionally, Greenpeace works in Alaska to protect the biodiversity of our oceans. Greenpeace supports the traditional right of Alaska Native peoples to the sustainable use of natural resources for subsistence.
National Wildlife Federation-AK Natural Resource Center
The focus of the NWF Alaska Natural Resource Center is protecting Alaska's wetland ecosystems. The ANRC seeks full implementation of the Clean Water Act Section 404 wetlands permitting program in Alaska, as well as monitoring state and local government actions affecting wetlands. Through the Anchorage Wetlands Watch program, the ANRC seeks to engage local citizens and community groups in better protecting Anchorage wetlands and improving water quality.
Northern Alaska Environmental Center
The Northern Center focuses primarily on habitat protection through environmentally sound land management and allocation decisions. Top concerns include securing Wilderness designation for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, defending the wilderness qualities of national parks and refuges, protecting wild rivers, and promoting sustainable multiple uses of the Alaska boreal forest.
Sierra Club, Alaska Chapter
The Alaska Chapter of the Sierra Club is the local grassroots arm of the national Sierra Club. The chapter works to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment, and emphasizes wildlife protection and habitat conservation. Issues addressed by the chapter are the national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forest wilderness, and offshore oil and gas exploration.
Alaska Citizens' Workshop
This site has been developed to assist concerned Alaskan Citizens learn about current issues affecting the state, to enable them to provide input into the policy making process by communicating views to elected officials, and to give them the means to promote progressive ideas thru the media and other public forums.
Prince William Sound Regional Citizens Advisory Council
A Valdez-based citizen's watchdog group, funded by a tax on the oil industry. Contains environmental monitoring reports, a list of events marking the Valdeze anniversary, and an oil spill prevention and contingency plan.
Copper River Watershed Project
The CRWP is a private, non-profit organization that takes direction from its nine member board of directors. Board members come from both the river valley and delta of our watershed, and share a common feeling about where they live. CRWP is a membership organization. We have members from within and beyond the Copper River watershed, although only members living in the region may vote on CRWP actions.

KCHU-AM 770 is a 10,000 watt full service public radio station in the city of Valdez with a staff of four. The station serves seven communities around Prince William Sound and the Copper River Basin. KCHU is repeated by translators in Cordova, Whittier, Tatitlek and Chenega Bay and carried by two full-service licensed stations in Glennallen and McCarthy. KCHU's signal can be heard in an area the size of Ohio serving a population base of 10,000 plus people. Currently there are around 400 KCHU members with a listenership made up of a variety independent communities.
